What is bog oak?

The English term bog oak literally means “bog oak”. In French, this material is also called swamp oak, subfossil oak or, more commonly in the trade, fossilized oak.

This is oak wood that has been buried for a very long time in a peat bog, marsh or moist soil poor in oxygen. In this particular environment, wood is preserved naturally. Its tannins gradually react with the minerals present in the water and soil, giving the oak deep shades ranging from dark brown to almost black.

The bog oak is therefore not a particular species of oak. It is distinguished by:

its singular veining;
its variations specific to each piece of wood;

Directions for use

Moisten the clump of the shaving brush with warm water, then remove the excess water slightly.

Take your beard soap or place a small amount of shaving cream on the shaving brush. Then work the foam into a bowl or directly onto the face using circular motions.
