Laguiole Forge Knife “Le Laguiole d’Ici” – Subfossil Oak

A thousand-year-old wood, an ancestral know-how, a knife deeply linked to Laguiole.

The Laguiole d’Ici: a knife attached to its territory

The Laguiole d’Ici expresses the link between a knife, its craftsmen and its place of manufacture. Forge de Laguiole makes it in its workshops in the village of Laguiole, from the forging of the blade to the finishing touches of the handle.

This model benefits from the “Couteau de Laguiole” Geographical Indication. This official recognition frames the origin and manufacturing methods by specifications, within a defined geographical area.

You choose a piece that combines use, local identity and cutlery tradition.

A full handle made of subfossil oak over 5,000 years old

The 12 cm handle is made of subfossil oak from the ancient bed of the Rhine. This ancient wood gives the knife a singular presence.

Its full-neck presentation leaves room for the material. In addition, the brass plates provide a warm contrast with the wood.

Each handle can have natural variations in shade and veining. This gives your knife its own shades.

A hot-forged blade made of French

steel The 10 cm blade is hot-forged from French steel. It offers a remarkable quality of cut and extends the work done on the entire knife.

With its 12 cm handle, the knife reaches a total length of 22 cm when opened. These dimensions make up a balanced format to accompany your daily use.

Motifs that pay homage to the old Laguiole

On the handle, an old brass diamond replaces the shepherd’s cross. It evokes the first peasant Laguiole and their traditional decorations.

The chiselled cross of Saint-André above the blade provides another historical reference. Forge de Laguiole presents it as a protective symbol and a tribute to André, one of the first doms of Aubrac, whose coat of arms bore two crossed pilgrim’s staffs.

These details give the model a heritage dimension, in line with the traditions of Aubrac.

A spring that can be customised by laser

engraving The knife has a smooth satin stainless steel spring. This surface allows for laser engraving to personalise your piece.

Personalisation brings an intimate dimension to this knife steeped in history. Thus, Le Laguiole d’Ici is a great gift idea to celebrate an occasion or to pass on an object chosen with care.
