How to Saber a bottle of Champagne with a Laguiole en Aubrac Champagne Sabre ?

Opening a bottle of champagne with a champagne saber, a technique also known as “sabrage,” can be a spectacular and elegant experience. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you master this method with a Laguiole champagne saber:

Necessary materiale :

  1. A Laguiole Champagne Saber.
  2. A well-chilled bottle of champagne.
  3. Towel.

Steps:

1- Preparation :

    • Make sure the bottle of champagne is very cold. A cold champagne helps minimize splashing when sabring.

2- Remove the film and the muselet :

    • Remove the film that surrounds the top of the bottle and the wire cap, leaving the cork in place alone.

3- Locate the weld :

    • Find the bottle weld, which is the part where the neck joins the body of the bottle.

4- Position the sword :

    • Hold the bottle firmly in one hand, tilted at approximately 45 degrees.
    • Position the Laguiole champagne saber flat against the bottle, with the back of the blade near the weld.

5- The sabering gesture :

    • With a smooth and rapid movement, slide the blade of the saber along the neck of the bottle following the line of the weld.
    • The sword must come into contact with the neck of the bottle at the weld, and the blow must be clean and precise.

6- The bottle is Sabered, Serve

    • Once the sabrage is successful, serve the champagne in flutes and enjoy!

It is essential to practice this technique carefully, paying attention to the direction of the sword and avoiding any sudden movements. With a little practice, you can master the art of sabrage and impress your guests with this elegant method of opening champagne.
